Voddie Baucham to Preach on May 31
“But the word of God increased and multiplied” (Acts 12:24).
There it is again. Over and against the opposition — apostles even killed and imprisoned — the gospel advances. The proclamation of this news is undeterred. Come what may, Luke seems to be saying, the word of God is unstoppable.
As we’ve seen over the past several weeks, and just as Jesus promised, his witness is reaching to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8). It has been our joy as pastors to unfold this story together, and this upcoming Sunday, it is our joy to sit under the preaching of Voddie Baucham as he expounds Acts 12.
Voddie is the Pastor of Preaching at Grace Family Baptist Church in Spring, TX. He and his wife, Bridget, are the parents of nine children. He has served as an adjunct professor and lecturer, and is the author of several books, including Family Shepherds: Calling and Equipping Men to Lead Their Homes and Joseph and the Gospel of Many Colors: Reading an Old Story in a New Way. Recently, Voddie accepted the call to become dean of African Christian College’s seminary, and he, his wife, and their seven youngest children will be headed for ministry in Zambia this August.
Voddie is especially gifted in the area of Cultural Apologetics where he is a trusted voice on the reliability of Scripture, the resurrection of Christ, and the understanding of Christian manhood and womanhood. His passion is to help ordinary people understand the significance of thinking and living in light of the gospel in every area of life.
Another fact about Voddie that I’ve found deeply encouraging is the story of how he came to Christ. He was raised in a non-Christian, single-parent home, and never heard the gospel until he was in college. It was then, through the consistent witness of a friend, that God opened his eyes to embrace Jesus. Because of his own experience, he is keenly aware of the skepticism that pervades our society, and therefore, is uniquely equipped to speak into that context with grace and understanding.
Cities Church is thrilled to welcome Voddie Baucham this Sunday, May 31. Everyone is invited to join us for worship — 10AM at Minnehaha Academy North.
