Risk Is Right
Risk is right. Do you believe this? And if so, what expression is this reality finding in your life right now? As many of you know for my family and I it means moving 90 miles to the south to begin the work of church planting in Mankato, Minnesota.
You are going to learn more about that next week, where I will be undoubtedly weepy but right now I simply want to ask you the question. How do you and I take risks to the glory of God? How do we forego the magnetic pull of comfort and ease and choose rather to live lives of risk for the sake of God’s kingdom.
I know of only one way to do this, brothers and sisters — we must cling to the promises of God. Only here can our heavenly Father empower us to live by faith and not by sight. Only here do the eternal unseen realities become more real to us than these temporal things that we can see and taste and feel.
And so what I want to commend to you is 5 simple promises that I’m seeking to cling to right now in the hope that you will cling to these as well.
Let us hear these promises with faith.
Deuteronomy 31:8,
“It is the LORD who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”
Psalm 50:15,
“Call upon me in the day of trouble, I will deliver you and you shall glorify me.”
Isaiah 41:10,
“Fear not, for I am with you. Be not dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Philippians 4:6-7,
“Do not be anxious about anything but in everything by prayer and supplication, present your requests to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:19,
“And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
Let’s Pray together.
